An open day was held on Friday 10 May specifically for senior secondary school students between Whanganui and Wellington at the campus of Te Wānanga o Raukawa. Intermingled with fun and games, they heard about our uniqueness, our commitment to the revitalisation of te reo Māori and to kaupapa Māori while advancing studies in a range of disciplines.
Seth Brons of Te Āti Awa and Pūkenga for Te Whare Oranga was the MC for the day using humour, fun activities and a sprinkling of prizes to engage students.
Following the more formal presentations, students were invited to wander amongst the various course areas and talk with pūkenga (tutors) about their courses. Students also had the option to go on a campus tour following the scrumptious morning tea.
The students who attended were from Wellington Girls’ High, Ōtaki College, Manukura, Naenae College, Manawatū College, Whanganui High and Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Kauwhata.
