- Priority is given for those studying te reo Māori.

Te Wānanga o Raukawa Foundation Scholarships
- To encourage and support students of Māori descent who are undertaking studies with Te Wānanga o Raukawa in the year of application.
- Available for students studying full time or over 0.5 of a study load at diploma level or above.
- Open to all students; however, preference will be given to members of Te Kotahitanga o Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Raukawa, and Ngāti Toa Rangatira.
- Not available to students receiving other scholarships, funds or study awards TeachNZ, Fees Free etc.
- The 2025 application round opens mid February, closing on 17 April 2025.

Te Pitomata Grants
Te Pitomata Grants support an inclusive workforce encouraging Māori into health careers. The Te Pitomata Grant Categories for 2025 include key areas within the healthcare sector in New Zealand.
The grants can contribute to tuition fees, course related costs and living cost for eligible students of Māori descent, undertaking a course in a health-related field through an accredited New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) provider or through a provider supporting the education of future Rongoā Māori practitioners.
Horticulture New Zealand Scholarship
- HortNZ is again offering undergraduate scholarships in 2023. These are to support people undertaking undergraduate study in horticulture or related fields.
Ngārimu Scholarships
- For high achieving Māori tertiary students
- Undergraduate postgraduate and doctoral studies scholarships.
- Applications are open from Friday 28 June to Sunday 28 July 2024.

Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarship
- Open to all Māori studying at tertiary level with preference given to descendants of Māori who served overseas during World War I.

Moana New Zealand Te Pae Tawhiti Kaimoana Enhancement Scholarship
- Designed for Māori who have a desire to contribute to the enhancement of the Māori kaimoana industry.
- Applicants must be of Māori descent and be accepted into (and enrolled) in a kaimoana enhancement related tertiar programme at a tertiary institution.
The My Campervan Hire Scholarship Award
- Open to all students aged 16 and over
- One (1) $1000 scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who can demonstrate how technology, education, content (visual, audio, augmented etc.), marketing will influence the travel industry
- Factors that will influence the decision will be grammar, creativity, and how to tell your personal story
- Can only be used towards tuition, books or on-campus room and board
Te Pūtea Whakatupu Trust Taitamariki Development Fund
- The Fund’s core purpose is to support tamariki between the ages of 13 years and 24 years of age to further their educational opportunities and pursuits.
- The Trust is seeking that the applicant will clearly define what their pursuits are against the categories designed by the Trust.
- The Fund has 3 key categories that applicants can apply to:
1. Te Mātauranga Te Tuatahi
2. Te Piringa Te Tuarua

Ngāi Tahu Kā Pūtea Scholarships
- Available to all registered Ngāi Tahu iwi members currently enrolled in NZQA Tertiary level study.

Ōtaki and Porirua Trusts Board Scholarships
- Supporting students under 20 years of age and attending secondary school or undertaking tertiary study with preference given to descendants of the Confederation of Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Raukawa and Ngāti Toa Rangatira. All applications must apply through the
Māori Education Trust (MET) website and completed on-line.
Te Hinemanu Ruakā Te Ūpokoiri Charitable Trust Scholarship
- Supporting Māori school leavers and wharekura students to study Māori language at Te Wānanga o Raukawa for the purposes of learning, teaching, researching and advancing te reo Māori and Māori history.
Ngāti Whakaue Education Scholarships
- Tertiary, postgraduate and other categories of scholarships available for descendants of Ngāti Whakaue.
- Application periods vary across scholarships.
He Manu Pīrere Scholarships
You are eligible if you:
1. Attended Kōhanga Reo;
2. Intend to enrol full-time at a New Zealand Tertiary Institute in the year of application; and
3. Include Te Reo Māori as a component of the study programme.

Ngāti Kahungunu Scholarships & Internships
- General and research scholarships for iwi registered Ngāti Kahungunu descendants studying full-time in the third or final year of completing a degree, or doing post graduate study.
- Each year, applications open in February and close in May.

- For full-time students studying cultural heritage, innovation in science or business at postgraduate level.

Paranihi ki Waitotara
- Scholarships and grants open for undergraduate and postgraduate students with some scholarships open to study in any field and others more targeted on specific fields of study such as agriculture, environment and conservation, science, and finance.
- Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Must whakapapa to at least one of the eight iwi of Taranaki.
- Must be endorsed by a living PKW shareholder.
- Must be enrolled in a recognised institution.

- Te Atawhai o Te Ao, an independent Māori Research institute for Environment and Health currently have scholarships and fellowships available to be applied for.

New Horizons for Women Hine Kahukura
- Second-chance Education for women returning to study at foundation certificate, diploma or degree levels.
- Awards for women or groups undertaking research that will be of benefit to women and girls in New Zealand.
- Awards for study or projects with a specific purpose. There is quite a range – have a look to see if any suit the programme of study or innovation that you are pursuing.
- Te Reo o te Hākui Award sponsored by the O'Regan and Johnson whānau is a new award for study in Te Reo Māori. (Apply under Foundation/Diploma OR Degree level Second Chance Education Awards for Te Reo o te Hākui).
