Te Aramau Rangiwhakahotu Adam Kenneth Amos White
Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Mutunga, Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Toa Rangatira and Kāi Tahu
Te Aramau's educational journey at Te Wānanga o Raukawa (TWoR) is a testament to his dedication to learning, growth, and cultural enrichment. Having embarked on his te reo Māori studies in 2019, Te Aramau was drawn to TWoR's full-time immersion learning programme due to his whakapapa connection and a thirst for knowledge.
Immersed in the safe and supportive learning environment at TWoR, Te Aramau found a sense of belonging and camaraderie,
forging lasting friendships with fellow students who shared his passion for te reo Māori and culture. Despite graduating with a Heke Reo Māori in 2021 and a Poutuarongo Reo Māori in 2023, Te Aramau acknowledges that his learning journey
has only just begun, recognising the vast expanse of knowledge that lies ahead.
Continuing his educational pursuit, Te Aramau is currently studying towards a Poutāhū Ahunga Tikanga (Postgraduate
Diploma in Māori Laws and Philosophy), delving deeper into the traditions and philosophies of his tūpuna. His diverse professional background as a farmhand, electrical apprentice, pilot, flying instructor and now a librarian reflects his versatile skill set and his pursuit of excellence in all endeavours.
From Pukerangiora in Taranaki, Te Aramau's upbringing in a close-knit whānau of five has instilled in him a strong sense
of community and familial bonds. With two older sisters excelling in their respective careers and parents who have dedicated their lives to their professions, Te Aramau draws inspiration from his family's legacy of hard work and perseverance.
As a valued staff member at TWoR, Te Aramau actively participates in the monthly Whakangungu Reo classes, demonstrating his
commitment to continuous learning and professional development. His advocacy for creating a support network for students grappling with anxiety underscores his empathetic nature and his desire to foster a nurturing environment for all learners.
Looking ahead, Te Aramau's aspirations are simple – to keep on learning, growing, and contributing to his community. His endorsement of TWoR as a beacon of knowledge and cultural preservation reflects his appreciation for the institution that has shaped part of his educational journey.
