TedxKāpiti
TedxKāpiti is scheduled for June 25 at Te Raukura ki Kāpiti, Paraparaumu, and four past students of Te Wānanga o Raukawa are in the lineup of speakers. They are Sharlene Maoate-Davis, Jared Tuoro, Hohepa Thompson and Tainui Stephens. Sharlene is speaking on “why we all have some sacred healing work to do, and how we can do it”, Jared on “why we need death in order to have a life”, Hohepa on “what it means to be a risk-taker and a provocateur”, and Tainui on “perceptions of truth, and how science and art are the foundations of new truths to ensure our survival”.
..... four past students of Te Wānanga o Raukawa are in the lineup of speakers.
Sharlene was a student in the Heke Rongoā programme (Diploma in Māori Holistic Wellbeing) in 2020, Jared and Hohepa were students in the Heke Reo programme (Diploma of Te Reo Māori) in 2019, and Tainui was a student on a Hui Rumaki Reo (a Te Reo Māori immersion seminar) in 2012. While the talks are about ideas that are worth sharing and not so much about the speakers and their personalities or positions in the community, we want to celebrate that four of our past students will be speaking.
TEDxKāpiti is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Speeches are usually short, 18 minutes or less, and should have a powerful message to share. Tickets are on sale via Eventfinda and includes morning tea and lunch.
