
About the conference
This conference was held to honour the contribution of Moana Jackson towards the goal of realising justice in Aotearoa. Key objectives of the conference were to encourage ongoing engagement with Moana's thinking and to ensure that we continue to work towards implementing the vision of justice for which he strived.
The two key strands of the conference were:
- constitutional transformation and Matike Mai Aotearoa; and
- criminal justice reform and He Whaipaanga Hou.
The conference included presentations from people who have worked with Moana in a range of settings. There was space for conversation and discussion, in plenary sessions, workshops and less formal settings. This provided conference participants with a range of opportunities to reflect on what Moana said and did, drawing on his example to inspire future work.
