An exciting opportunity has become available for the right applicant to give expression to kaitiakitanga within Te Whare Manaaki Whenua at Te Wānanga o Raukawa, based in Ōtaki. This is a busy role ensuring the facilities including buildings, lawn and gardens are maintained and presented to an exceptional standard at Te Wānanga o Raukawa or at other locations off campus, when required as well as providing support to the Waste Management team.

 

The ideal candidate for this role should:

 

  • Hold relevant trade qualifications and/or relevant experience in the field.
  • Be confident orally and with written Reo in a style suited to the intended audience.
  • Be able to take direction well.
  • Be able to work well within the team environment.
  • Be able to manage own workload to meet deadlines.
  • Be a clear communicator in English.
  • Be knowledgeable of Whakatupuranga Rua Mano, the ART Confederation and the origins of Te Wānanga o Raukawa and able to explain this to staff students and others who are in contact with the organisation.
  • Able and willing to perform a wide range of tasks, some with competing demands, to achieve excellence.
  • Be able to multitask to ensure completion of work by required timeframe.
  • Be able to cope well with stressful situations.
  • Be able to apply consistency to maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy.
  • Be reliable and friendly in approach always.

    To be successful in this role you will give expression through the following kaupapa:


    Rangatiratanga

    • To ensure that all facilities, specifically buildings, and including grounds lawns and gardens located at Te Wānanga o Raukawa or off campus are presented to an exceptional standard and well maintained as reasonably directed by the Kaihautū Manaaki Whenua.
    • To gain a basic working knowledge of Te Wānanga o Raukawa and be able to convey this information with all students, staff, visitors and guests.
    • To liaise with key personnel to ensure Buildings, Grounds and Maintenance at Te Wānanga o Raukawa is continually enhanced and maintained to a high standard.
    • Manage workload with competing demands
    • To develop effective teamwork and mutual values, and provide respect and support to all staff, students and guests of Te Wānanga o Raukawa.
    • Ensure effective communication with other parts of Te Wānanga o Raukawa to achieve smooth and efficient operations.

    • Represent the best interests of staff at all times
    • Attend and contribute to staff hui, and any other hui where your attendance has required by the Kaihautū

    Kaitiakitanga

    • Represent the Wānanga appropriately within the community and with other organisations
    • Always conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Kaupapa 
    • Ensure all resources of Te Wānanga o Raukawa are used appropriately and any fault or damage is reported to the Pūkenga Matua or Kaihautū immediately 
    • Maintain regular working hours on campus and when requested by the Pūkenga Matua be available when students are in noho
    • the departmental equipment and stationary resources are maintained

    Manaakitanga

    • Efficiently carry out duties to ensure a minimal disruption to staff, students and visitors.
    • Create and maintain positive relationships 
    • Provide clear and accurate information to Kaihautū about the maintenance services and programmes. 
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with facility customers and user groups.
    • Encourage and respond to customer feedback, seeking assistance from Kaihautū when required.
    • Ensure kaupapa and in line with the Theory and Understanding of Wānanga.
    • Provide effective maintenance services that considers other Te Wānanga o Raukawa staff as internal customers.  
    • Deliver high quality maintenance service and encourage others to do likewise

    Whanaungatanga

    • Encourage and support ART participation
    • Practise kanohi ki te kanohi where possible

    Te Reo

    • Show competence in and continue to develop written and oral skills in te reo
    • Encourage all staff, students and others with their studies and confidence in te reo
